Kathi has been incredible in helping me rebalance my body after a particularly traumatic 18 months. I was in severe pain in my neck and shoulders, experiencing pins and needles radiating into my hand to the point where I was unable to sleep at night. Through breathing exercises, somatic experience and manual manouvres Kathi has achieved what I did not think was possible...no pain! She has taught me exercises to practice at home daily and shown me how to recreate somatic experience for myself so I can perform these by myself. I am eternally grateful for your work Kathi. I was sceptical as was unsure what an osteopath did but you are so much more than that. Thank you.

I’m really enjoying the Level 1 Meditation Series. Love the gentle step-wise approach that gives time and space to get into the zone, and enjoy the journey. The course is very well structured and taught. It's great to be able to learn at your own pace and replay the sessions to deepen learning and practice. The different mind, body, breath work, awareness and visualisation techniques all help bring me a sense of tranquility, centredness and connection. Thank you. I would definitely recommend this course.

I have regularly used the CHC since it opened many years ago. Receptionists are always welcoming and helpful. I have an aromatherapy massage on average every fortnight with Debbie Wright, who is absolutely brilliant. Debbie is very experienced and has successfully treated a variety of ailments for me, ensuring I can still play tennis twice a week. I have also had many successful treatments from Lindsay Mudford for joint problems. Lindsay is always welcoming, very experienced and I always leave with good advice and appropriate exercises.

I've been seeing this Kathi for a few months and highly recommend her. She's incredibly thorough and has significantly improved my mobility. What sets her apart is her holistic approach—she treats the whole person, not just the joints. She uses gentle, effective techniques and hasn't used any clicking or cracking on me, which I really appreciate. Her methods are unlike anything I've experienced with other osteopaths. Her sessions are excellent value. I thoroughly recommend her whether you have specific issues or just want an assessment.

Thank you Kathi for helping me with my chronic back pain and sciatica. I had it for years and always believed there was nothing that could be done. Even though it wasn't the quick fix I wanted, it was what I needed. You helped me realize that so much of my pain was coming from stresses, fears and tensions that I didn't even know I had. It's not 100% gone, but I feel that the tools I learnt will get me to the end. I have my life back and I am not scared of the occasional discomfort any more. Thank you, it was worth persevering with. 100% recommend to anyone who can commit to their own health and recovery. It might have been slow and steady progress, but so so worthwhile. It hasn't just changed the pain, it has changed many other aspects of my life, in the process. I no longer feel helpless in my body.

Tony and Kathi provide a genuine, sincere experience that gets to the heart of whatever problems you may have. Although only half way into the first meditation course I am already feeling the benefits and am looking forward to the rest - but it shouldn't be rushed (or is that just me procastinating?). I am impressed that from the start, the stated aim is to provide us with the tools to help ourselves - the very opposite of most other online providers who want to sign you up for as long as possible and keep you coming back. It is so good to see a little more of the extension of what started with Tai Chi for me, then starting to learn Tui Na - it is all fitting together beautifully with the meditation.

I have had a bad back now for a few weeks, I usually battle on and it gets better on its own in about a week. This time I couldn't shift it and thought actually I need some help this time! I had heard about the CHC and I called up and booked an appointment which was with Kathi. Kathi has incredible knowledge of the body and mind, she made me feel totally relaxed and after my first half an hour session I had so much more mobility, amazing...... and no clicking or cracking techniques which scare the hell out of me, I exited the treatment room with a spring in my step. I decided to book another session with Kathi and I can honestly say I was back to normal. Thank you Kathi and CHC totally professional and exceptional treatments Martin

Osteopath in Lee Green, SE12

Thorough assessment. Gentle hands-on treatment. No joint cracking.

If you have developed a new pain, noticed a change in your movement or sustained a minor sports injury, an osteopathic assessment can help establish what may be contributing to the problem and whether treatment is appropriate.

I use a gentle but thorough approach, combining clinical assessment with hands-on osteopathic treatment. Depending on what we find, your care may also include medical or fascial acupuncture, movement advice and a practical rehabilitation plan.

Every appointment is adapted to you. I do not use forceful joint manipulation or “cracking” techniques.

Could osteopathy be suitable for my problem?

General back pain and backache

Sciatica and neuralgia

Mechanical neck pain

Shoulder and elbow pain

Frozen shoulder

Headaches arising from the neck or tension

Joint and muscular pain

Hip or knee pain associated with osteoarthritis

Sports injuries

Generalised aches and pains

Tension and difficulty relaxing

Jaw (TMJ) pain and dysfunction

This list is not a diagnosis. Similar symptoms can have different causes, which is why your first appointment includes a full history and clinical assessment.

If your symptoms are severe, rapidly worsening or accompanied by concerning changes such as significant weakness, loss of bladder or bowel control, chest pain or sudden difficulty speaking, seek urgent medical advice rather than booking routine osteopathic treatment.

What to expect from osteopathic care

Chose the different tabs to see more details

A thorough clinical assessment

Before deciding whether or how to treat you, I will ask about your current symptoms, how they began, your general health, medical history, medication and anything else that may affect your care.

Your physical assessment may include:

  • Observing how you stand and move
  • Testing the movement of relevant joints
  • Assessing muscles and surrounding tissues
  • Neurological testing, such as strength, sensation and reflexes
  • Coordination or balance testing where relevant
  • Discussing activities that improve or aggravate your symptoms
  • Reviewing previous diagnoses, investigations or treatment

You will be given an explanation of what the assessment suggests and the options available to you.

If osteopathic treatment does not appear appropriate, or something requires medical investigation, I will explain this and recommend the most suitable next step.

Your comfort matters

I will explain what I would like to assess and ask for your consent. You can ask questions, decline any part of the examination or treatment, or change your mind at any time.

What to expect from osteopathic care

New pain or movement problem

Osteopathic assessment

This service is generally the most appropriate starting point when you have:

  • Recently developed pain
  • A new restriction in movement
  • General back, neck or joint pain
  • A minor sports injury
  • A new episode of a familiar musculoskeletal problem
  • A problem that has not yet been properly assessed

Your appointment focuses on clinical assessment, hands-on treatment and rehabilitation where appropriate.

Symptoms lasting three months or longer

Persistent pain and symptom recovery

Persistent symptoms do not always behave in the same way as a new injury. If you have experienced

  • pain,
  • fibromyalgia,
  • fatigue,
  • IBS or
  • other recurring symptoms

for several months or years, you may benefit from a broader assessment of the factors maintaining them.

This is covered separately through my integrated persistent-pain work rather than being squeezed into an ordinary osteopathy appointment description.

Clinical care without forceful treatment

Some people avoid osteopathy because they are worried that treatment will involve forceful manipulation or joint cracking. That is not how I work.

My approach is gentle, attentive and clinically reasoned. I assess what is happening before recommending treatment, explain what I find and adapt techniques to your comfort and response.

Gentle does not mean vague or passive. Your appointment can include detailed movement and neurological assessment, hands-on treatment, acupuncture and active rehabilitation where these are appropriate.

My aim is for you to understand:

  • What the assessment suggests
  • What treatment may reasonably help
  • What you can do between appointments
  • When another healthcare professional or further investigation may be needed

Can acupuncture be included?

Medical or fascial acupuncture may be offered as part of your appointment when I consider it appropriate and you are comfortable with it.

It can be used alongside hands-on treatment rather than requiring a separate appointment. I will explain why I am suggesting it, what it involves and any relevant risks before asking for your consent.

Acupuncture is optional. Choosing not to have it will not prevent you from receiving osteopathic assessment and treatment.
